How to setup and use iCloud Keychain

Setting up Apple’s built-in password manager, iCloud Keychain, is straightforward and integrates seamlessly with your Apple devices. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

On iPhone or iPad:

  1. Enable iCloud Keychain:

    • Open the Settings app.
    • Tap on your name at the top to access your Apple ID settings.
    • Tap on iCloud.
    • Scroll down and tap on Keychain.
    • Toggle on iCloud Keychain.

  2. Use Safari to Save Passwords:

    • Open Safari.
    • When you log into a website, Safari will prompt you to save the password. Tap Save Password.

  3. AutoFill Passwords:

    • Go to Settings.
    • Scroll down and tap on Passwords.
    • Ensure AutoFill Passwords is toggled on.
    • Select iCloud Keychain under Allow Filling From.

On Mac:

  1. Enable iCloud Keychain:

    • Click on the Apple menu () and choose System Preferences.
    • Click on Apple ID.
    • In the sidebar, click on iCloud.
    • Ensure the checkbox next to Keychain is checked.
