How to Use Google Password Manager

Google Password Manager securely stores and auto-fills your passwords across your devices using your Google account. Here’s a step-by-step guide to setting it up and using it:


Step 1: Enable Google Password Manager

On Android:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Scroll down and select Google.
  3. Tap Manage your Google Account.
  4. Go to the Security tab.
  5. Scroll to Password Manager and tap it.
  6. Ensure Offer to Save Passwords is turned ON.

On Chrome (Windows, Mac, iPhone, or iPad):

  1. Open Google Chrome.
  2. Click the three-dot menu (top-right corner).
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Click Autofill and passwords > Google Password Manager.
  5. Turn on Offer to save passwords.

Step 2: Save Passwords Automatically

  • When logging into a new website or app, Google will prompt you to Save Password.
  • Click Save to store it in Google Password Manager.

Step 3: View & Manage Saved Passwords

On Android:

  1. Open Settings > Google.
  2. Tap Manage your Google Account > Security.
  3. Scroll to Password Manager.
  4. Select a saved account to view, edit, or delete passwords.

On Chrome (Desktop & iOS):

  1. Open Google Chrome.
  2. Go to Settings > Google Password Manager.
  3. Click a saved account to view or edit the password.

Step 4: Auto-Fill Passwords

On Android:

  1. Open Settings > Google > Autofill.
  2. Tap Autofill with Google and enable it.
  3. Now, when logging into apps, passwords will auto-fill.

On Chrome (Desktop & iOS):

  1. Make sure you’re signed into Chrome with your Google account.
  2. When logging into a website, saved credentials will appear.
  3. Click on the suggested password to auto-fill.

Step 5: Generate Strong Passwords

  1. When signing up for a new account in Chrome or Android, Google will suggest a strong password.
  2. Click Use Suggested Password to save it automatically.

Step 6: Sync Passwords Across Devices

  • Make sure Sync is enabled in Chrome:
    1. Open Chrome > Settings.
    2. Click Sync and Google services.
    3. Turn on Sync everything or Sync passwords.

Step 7: Export or Delete Saved Passwords

To Export Passwords:

  1. Go to Google Password Manager in Chrome.
  2. Click Settings > Export passwords.
  3. Follow the on-screen steps to download your passwords.

To Delete a Saved Password:

  1. Open Google Password Manager.
  2. Select the account.
  3. Click Delete.
