How to Use Google Password Manager
Google Password Manager securely stores and auto-fills your passwords across your devices using your Google account. Here’s a step-by-step guide to setting it up and using it:
Step 1: Enable Google Password Manager
On Android:
- Open Settings.
- Scroll down and select Google.
- Tap Manage your Google Account.
- Go to the Security tab.
- Scroll to Password Manager and tap it.
- Ensure Offer to Save Passwords is turned ON.
On Chrome (Windows, Mac, iPhone, or iPad):
- Open Google Chrome.
- Click the three-dot menu (top-right corner).
- Select Settings.
- Click Autofill and passwords > Google Password Manager.
- Turn on Offer to save passwords.
Step 2: Save Passwords Automatically
- When logging into a new website or app, Google will prompt you to Save Password.
- Click Save to store it in Google Password Manager.
Step 3: View & Manage Saved Passwords
On Android:
- Open Settings > Google.
- Tap Manage your Google Account > Security.
- Scroll to Password Manager.
- Select a saved account to view, edit, or delete passwords.
On Chrome (Desktop & iOS):
- Open Google Chrome.
- Go to Settings > Google Password Manager.
- Click a saved account to view or edit the password.
Step 4: Auto-Fill Passwords
On Android:
- Open Settings > Google > Autofill.
- Tap Autofill with Google and enable it.
- Now, when logging into apps, passwords will auto-fill.
On Chrome (Desktop & iOS):
- Make sure you’re signed into Chrome with your Google account.
- When logging into a website, saved credentials will appear.
- Click on the suggested password to auto-fill.
Step 5: Generate Strong Passwords
- When signing up for a new account in Chrome or Android, Google will suggest a strong password.
- Click Use Suggested Password to save it automatically.
Step 6: Sync Passwords Across Devices
- Make sure Sync is enabled in Chrome:
- Open Chrome > Settings.
- Click Sync and Google services.
- Turn on Sync everything or Sync passwords.
Step 7: Export or Delete Saved Passwords
To Export Passwords:
- Go to Google Password Manager in Chrome.
- Click Settings > Export passwords.
- Follow the on-screen steps to download your passwords.
To Delete a Saved Password:
- Open Google Password Manager.
- Select the account.
- Click Delete.
